Hello guys, if you guys watch anime on your phone or tablet then in what resolution do you usually watch it? HD? Do you download it, watch on a stream site or use some app like Netflix?

How about PC? I watch in, normally, 720p HD and I download it. My internet is way too slow to watch streaming.

I've never watched anime on a phone or tablet. The screens are just too small for watching anime, movies, TV, etc. in my opinion. I watch stuff on my laptop and/or hook my laptop up to my TV and watch it on my TV.

I too prefer to download my shows rather than stream them and then it's better to enjoy anime on a PC/laptop than on a small screen like those of mobile devices and tablets use to be (small as in compared to a computer's).

Yes watching something on a phone when you can watch it on a pc is pointless but if you aren't home and feels like watching something then the phone is ok it is not like its unwatchable.

And I have yet to experience a time when watching a TV show on a phone has been the preferred use of said phone or comes close to the enjoyment I'd get from watching on a full-size screen. Phone screen size, battery life, and ambient noise makes watching TV on a phone in public largely a waste.

I prefer to purchase DVDs and watch it that way. Although I'll stream an episode or two to see if the series is any good before I commit to it.

Pretty sure I've encountered some guy streaming anime (or he may have had it downloaded) on his phone while he was sitting about in one of the university buildings. I don't think I would enjoy watching something for 20+ minutes on such a small screen that I'm having to hold.

Yes it doesnt even come close to the enjoyment of watching it on a full size screen, if you have free time and cant watch it on a screen then the phone is good to check a show you havent watched yet imo but watching a show you already know and enjoy on a phone is pointless not only it is less enjoyable but it is also tiring.

Exactly, streaming an episode to check if the show is good saves alot of time.

Don't have a tablet, and I'm pretty sure my phone is too old to be effective for watching anything. I did once stream a couple of episodes on a friend's tablet, and it was okay -- not too different from watching on a portable DVD player, which I've done on numerous occasions.

You can do both, with the magic of jailbreak.
On the topic: Yes, I do watch anime on my iPod Touch, but just when I'm on a long trip on the Bus, mostly movies. Or some times when is too late and I want to kill some minutes before sleep, and I see no point on turning on my laptop, I just watch something in my iPod, the other day I was rewatching Excel Saga on YouTube before sleep.

Edit: Of course, this only apply to shows/movies I already watched. Watching for the first time on a phone/tablet is a bad idea.

In-ear headphones solve the problem of ambient noise quite well, unless we're talking about watching a 3 hour movie or something, that can become uncomfortable. Or if you're eating while watching.

As someone who doesn't give that much sh*t about quality, I don't mind (re)watching a random anime on my iPod Touch either. Besides having a couple episodes to watch while you're wating for a train or bus is pretty nice I think.

Also, ^this.

But yes, I'd rather watch that super fancy looking (new) anime on my PC.

I don't think I mentioned ambient noise as a factor that needs to be solved. Ambient noise is an issue that's there. Tuning it out or masking it is up to you but doing so still doesn't recreate a private environment.

Again, my comment was aimed at cellphones and the things that cellphones can and can't do well. From that perspective, quality is an issue and so is performance. Just being able to watch a TV show on the go is not enough to justify to me the waste involved when a cellphone can be used for other distractions that actually work well on the platform.

8 times out of 10, I will stream on my iPhone. Why?
A few reasons:
-I encounter zero issues when it comes to buffering unlike my PC where I have to wait awhile for it to buffer due my slow internet (downloading is out of the question, that'd take forever).
-I have a few sites bookmarked that are dedicated to mobile playback and are regularly updated
-Smaller screen means my brain is tricked to think I'm watching something in HD rather watching the same video on my PC blown up to the screen resolution with bad quality.

Also, I have no issues with battery drain as I have a charging case for it that can last awhile. Overall, I'm satisfied giving the circumstances of having slow Internet speeds.

All the time

That Crunchyroll app is really handy ;)
Plus I'm able to get up and move places without pausing. Not stuck in 1 spot to watch a show. I have a laptop and I'm able to move places with it, but I'd rather watch the show in my comfy room than to move my laptop downstairs on the couch or table.

Haven't come across an app yet that really shines, so I stick to websites. To be honest though, at the rare times it stops buffering, I can close the video and then re-launch it and scrub forward to where I left off and it will buffer from that spot. That's also a plus I forgot to mention. Some streams on the PC side doesn't let you go the spot where you left off in the case it stopped buffering. Instead, you end up having to wait for it to buffer all the way through again before you can choose at what point to play it.

Cons I experienced with that app
-Ad interruptions
-having to wait at least a week for the latest episode to be playable to free users.
-quality of stream seems inconsistent, but that's probably my end but find it weird it's the only stream that does that on my phone.
And in some cases...less selections to choose from.

Ad interruptions are minimal, if you want to watch current season stuff, yeah, there are other places on the web to see them sooner. But if something has already aired and I want to watch it, if it's on Crunchyroll you just can't beat the quality/consistency.

For ipad/iphone, of course.

Having to wait a week for the latest epis is a trouble, i was searching here and there are some sites with a stable buffering. Do you have any sites to recommend?

Yeah, you're right about the ones that are finished airing. I can agree too the ads are minimal.
It gets the job done, it's decent, but for some reason, the quality of the stream will tend to drop randomly and then pick up. Probably specific to me though.

it is. like Tavor mentioned already, you just have to deal with the ads delayed days to watch the anime. But if you subscribe that wont be much of a problem

More often than not, I'm watching anime on my PC.

However, when I'm on break at work or just relaxing, I tend to watch anime over 3G on my smartphone (via the Crunchyroll app, of course). Occasionally I may use Crunchyroll on my iPad, but that's only if I'm in laying in bed and want to watch something without sitting in front of the computer.
