I am finally giving this classic a shot. I heard it has a good plot and now I'm here, finally taking the plunge. I dont expect to be able to make it till the end because A) I'm hella prone to dropping, just take a look at my list... B) this anime is pretty long.
But we will see. Acceptable first episode. Germans in this anime behave funny lol. Not like Germans at all. Anyway, I dont mind.
I liked the shit out of that bible quote. Makes for a promising start.
good first episode. i see where this show is headed. i forsee that it will be a conflict between what tenma wants and what others want out of him. morality will be a theme to be addressed as well. is it right to do things for the sake of reputation or recognition? or is it right for the individual to make decisions within their own beliefs? the former is a more “evil” choice, based on this first episode.
Kill... Him. As in kill the boy (brother)? Either that boy killed his parents and failed to kill himself in front of the girl or the girl has gone mad.
I may be looking too much into it. Either way, I can already tell that this is gonna be a good and crazy ride.
That was a good start, I think this episode would be good enough to be a title on its own.
Love the setting in 1987 West Germany, quite original and bold idea with loads of potential.
I am so going to regret I haven't started this series earlier. 10/10 contender already.
After 5 years of having this on my watchlist, I finally started this shit; can't believe it. It feels like half this thread is echoing similar sentiments, lol.
Very introductory so far but I'm already hooked. This is going to be a damn good series. I can feel it.
Started it last night! Loved the first episode. You can sense from the start its an "adult" anime. I especially liked how they instantly made the director's daughter a disturbing, vile character with just one scene. The doctor and his dilemma also felt true and complex. It was just a great, strong first episode. Now comes the downfall which is the consequence of doing the right thing!
Damn... First episode and I'm already fucking hooked, I've been wanting to watch this one for awhile... Hope this lives up to my expectations, I'm already pretty hyped!
that is exactly what I fancy about. It was dope. seems like I will be binge-watching the whole series in a couple of days. plus I'm going to the 10 out of 10 for the 1st episode...
Been waiting for when I finally had mood and chance to watch this. Very amazing first episode, this show feels dark and a little creepy but thats what makes me love it even more.
Can’t wait to continue watching to see what kind of things Monster has to offer
I'm happy that I started watching, and I'm proud of Tenma for basically saying fuck you to the hospital director by operating on the boy instead. I don't like the hospital director or the fiance. It was a really dynamic first episode that grabbed my attention. Overall rate it a 5/5 there's nothing that I would've changed about this episode.
Super cool start. Tenma seems super likeable as of now and man, the pain from having to choose one over another is very real and it hurts. The whole atmosphere is perfectly done and I'm still finding myself to be impressed despite the high expectations that I had.
I had this anime on my mind for a while now, but i've been waiting for the "Right time" to watch it. the first episode is amazing and is a nice setup to the show.
Tyhis episode, show us the dilema of an Med which is married with the daugher of hispital director, and the director show how even a hospital, can be used by a mean of politics which even he is in teory a doctor, he do not care for all the lifes, the part of the episode where the wife says: - "the lifes isn't all equals" make Tenma broke and was the way to he try to be a better doctor. In paralel we saw an situation where the children and parents were shot and the sister in shock only says> "Kill my brother."
Intriguing start so far, I'm glad Tenma choose the kid because f*ck that shitty director with his unethical hospital politics and his daughter also seems like a huge prick.
Quite interesting first episode but I was certainly expecting more subtlety. Tenma seems to be the only competent surgeon in this big ass hospital and I was certainly NOT expecting the conflict of morality to be so "in your face".
Not to excited about the visuals but looking forward to see where this goes. The MC’s fiancé is a bitch but seems like Tenma is as well glad he came to his senses.
Really good first ep. The visuals looked absolutely gorgeous and the first impression of Tenma was good.
Doctor Tenma seems to have strong morals since he chose to not obey the directors orders. If Im not mistaken that boy was Johan and I assume that he will be grateful to Tenma, after hearing that he decided to operate him instead of the mayor. I got a hunch that the mayor is gonna die in that surgery and the director is blaming Tenma for that.
I have only heard good things about this series so I got high hopes for this.
It's really impressive how well they adapted this from the manga. The animation is clean and carries the charm the original had with it. There were a few plot conveniences that bothered me this ep but it's fine since this is the first one anyway. Also the moral ambiguity of the doctors feels a little contrived
