Probably in relation to updates and some players not liking certain changes/addition seeing them as needless. Personaly cant speak on ui since when i started it was the ui i was using so i was fine with it (untill it broke and was going off screen like for example when calling girls in the bar during ch2). otherwise the game is actualy really nice though after entering ch3 feels like lot of people just vanished, for apartments just dont have anyone in them aisde the new mafia boss girl. or we do have mention of girls in school but we dont see anyone other than the mother daughter duo themself. but those are mostly things that can be fixed with later updates (assuming they dont focus on some experimental feature that will not be implemented like those "explorable scenes")

No sizeable content update in months, Act 3 has taken about as long to develop as half of Act 2 did, and there's been mere scraps of story progression.

Maybe not dead but it IS being pretty blatantly milked for all it's worth at this point. Each update seems to be scraps of content, either for side-characters, unimportant locations and only a few things added for the main girls once in a while, along with changes practically no one likes (like the fucking UI)
Supposedly, and I say this without much hope, the next update he drops will be a big one. If that's an update about content for the plot, the main girls or (god forbid) MORE unnecessary changes or new mechanics is something only the Dev knows but according to word of the dev, it's going to be big but at this point I'm not really holding my breath.
(God willing the UI will get fixed and preferably even go back to the old one but it seems unlikely)
At the end of the day I won't complain TOO much since I'm just sailing the digital seas with the Jolly Roger on my boat and not paying a single dime for this so it's whatever lol

Right now the dev is working on a sizable update he's calling "The Big One" (not to be confused with the scrapped idea of reworking the game for a steam release) which is why there wasn't the usual regularly scheduled update last month. "It'll be ready when it's ready" he says. It's supposedly going to contain more content than any previous ones, even talking about reintroducing/reworking the nexus finally as mentioned in the screenshot from today below.

After introducing part 3 he have been scimming the creame with small updates - making more and more errors - and i dont have the biggest trust to his "big one" other that it wil be a full bucket of fail, glitch and errors - then he promice to correct them and in the meantime he get a lot of money for making errors and correcting them, making new errors and getting more money while correcting them and so on.....
I and some other long time players of the game have a bad feeling, he have sold the game and his nick to a money digger.
I stopped paying short after part 3 and wont pay him anymore.
I am sad the way the game turned out. Have been playing the game from the start, nearly 6 years now

yea i think it happend around the time when the new bridge quest (the one where you go under the bridge to look for something and find the buzzing thing) was added since before that the ui only had a problem of overflowing at the top
I also just ran into this problem. How I fixed it was investigating Emma at night right before going to sleep. I'm just posting this in case anyone gets stuck at the part where pixie's hint is , "lady hanging around outside the flat during the day"

Been a while since I last played, but I solved this manually.
First, youre gonna need a tool to extract rpa files. I like rpa extractor. Then use that on the audio rpa file found inside the game folder. Look for the files in question, and then just delete them. You could alternatively replace them with a different, less ear gratingly awful sound, but the easiest I found was to remove them. This did not break the game when I tested that method, although it was several updates ago.
Similarly, I did the same thing to the h-scene music, because the jokey meme fucksex bgm was absolutely not doing it for me. If you're replacing a file, just make sure you rename it to the same as the original file. It doesnt need to have the same filesize, only the name and extension (mp3/ogg/wav) need to be the same if you want the game to be able to find the new sound.

Last time i checked no. at best there are "beeps" when character speaks (akin to undertale or some other rpg games usualy)
